Mrs Bligh’s Project – Ceiling Light Replacement

Brightening the living space of an elderly widow with stylish new ceiling fixtures.

Mrs Bligh contacted us regarding flickering ceiling lights in her home. Having lost her husband five years ago, she was unable to safely replace the light fittings herself. As part of our Positive Connections initiative, we arranged a visit to install her light fittings.

Our electrician John visited Mrs Bligh’s home to replace two ceiling light fittings in her living room and hallway. The existing fixtures had worn connections causing the intermittent flickering that concerned her.

Following proper electrical safety protocols, John disconnected the power and removed the outdated fixtures. He then assessed the existing electrical connections to ensure they were suitable for the new fittings. The installation process involved carefully connecting the wiring to the new light fixtures and mounting them securely to the ceiling, making sure all electrical connections were properly insulated and protected.

Once installation was complete, the new lights provided a warm, even illumination throughout both spaces, eliminating the flickering issues. This improvement was particularly important for Mrs Bligh’s safety, as proper lighting helps prevent trips and falls for elderly residents living alone.

Before departing, John conducted final safety checks and as with all our Positive Connections work, this service was provided completely free of charge to support vulnerable members of our community.

The simple replacement of these light fittings has made a significant difference to Mrs Bligh’s daily comfort and safety. This project demonstrates our commitment to using our electrical expertise to improve the lives of elderly residents who might otherwise struggle with these essential home maintenance tasks.
