Our electrical team integrated concealed LED lighting into a contemporary bedroom's slat wall design, creating an elegant lighting solution that perfectly balances form and function.
When designing modern bedroom lighting, the details make all the difference. This project presented an interesting opportunity to merge cutting-edge LED technology with sophisticated interior design elements in Cornwall. The client’s bedroom featured a striking slat wall panel design that demanded a lighting solution as refined as the architecture itself.
The primary challenge lay in incorporating LED strips within the vertical panelling while maintaining the clean aesthetic when the lights were switched off. Traditional LED channels would have disrupted the seamless look of the slat wall, so we needed to think differently about our approach.
We carefully mapped out the electrical infrastructure behind the panelling to determine the optimal positioning for the LED transformers. This thorough preparation was crucial, as it allowed us to minimise any disruption to the existing structure while achieving perfect light placement.
Our solution involved installing vertical LED strips on either side of the bed, precisely positioned to work in harmony with the slat wall design. The innovative installation method meant the lighting elements remained completely hidden during daylight hours, preserving the clean lines of the panelling. When activated, the LEDs cast a soft, ambient glow through the slats, creating sophisticated lighting effects that transform the room’s atmosphere.
The finished installation demonstrates how thoughtful electrical design can complement contemporary interior architecture. The LED strips provide practical illumination for reading and relaxation while adding a layer of sophisticated ambient lighting that highlights the bedroom’s architectural features. This project showcases how modern lighting technology can be seamlessly integrated into architectural elements without compromising their visual appeal.
Throughout the installation, we paid particular attention to the quality of light output and the ease of control. The result is a lighting system that gives the client complete control over their bedroom’s ambiance while maintaining the clean, contemporary aesthetic of their space.
