Storage Heater Relocation and Circuit Repair in Truro Property

When electrical issues arise in older properties, creative solutions and thorough investigation often yield the most cost-effective results for our clients.

Working in a residential property in Truro, we encountered multiple electrical challenges that required both diagnostic expertise and practical problem-solving. The project began with investigating a socket circuit fault that was causing issues in the kitchen and landing areas. Through methodical testing and investigation, we discovered the root cause: rodent damage to cables concealed within the floor void beneath the fridge.

This type of damage isn’t uncommon in older properties, where small creatures can sometimes find their way into concealed spaces. Our approach involved carefully exposing the damaged sections of cabling in the floor void, allowing us to assess the full extent of the problem. We then completed necessary repairs to restore the circuit’s integrity, ensuring all connections were secure and properly protected against future damage.

Alongside the circuit repair, we tackled another aspect of the project that showcased our commitment to sustainable solutions. The property had two faulty storage heaters requiring attention, but rather than defaulting to new replacements, we identified an opportunity for a more resourceful approach. We discovered that elsewhere in the property, there were perfectly functional storage heaters that weren’t being utilised. By carefully removing and relocating these units, we were able to replace the faulty ones without the need for purchasing new equipment.

This approach not only proved more cost-effective for our client but also aligned with sustainable practices by reusing existing, functional equipment. The relocated storage heaters were thoroughly tested to ensure they met all safety requirements and would provide reliable heating in their new locations.

The final phase of our work involved reinstating the flooring that had been lifted to access the damaged cabling. We take pride in leaving properties in pristine condition, understanding that the finish is just as important as the electrical work itself.

Throughout the project, we maintained clear communication with the property owner, explaining our findings and recommendations at each stage. This kind of transparent approach helps clients understand the value of thorough investigation and creative solutions in electrical work.
