We recently completed a series of essential electrical modifications and improvements for a commercial property in St Issey, focusing on safety compliance and practical power access solutions.
This commercial electrical project in St Issey involved addressing several key electrical needs for a local business property. The client approached us with specific requirements to improve both safety and functionality within their commercial space.
The project began with the replacement of a damaged stairwell bulkhead light fitting. The existing fixture had developed cracks in its casing, creating potential safety concerns. This type of damage can compromise the weatherproofing of the fitting and potentially lead to electrical faults if left unaddressed. We removed the damaged unit and installed a new, robust bulkhead light that provides reliable illumination for the stairwell area while maintaining the necessary safety standards for commercial buildings.
A significant portion of the work focused on extending the socket circuit near the main entrance to the building. The circuit extension included the installation of two fused switch isolator outlets, giving the client greater control over specific electrical elements. These isolators allow for safe disconnection of individual circuits during maintenance without disrupting power to the entire area.
A particularly thoughtful addition was a low-level accessible 2-gang socket near the entrance. Lower-positioned sockets can be invaluable for users with mobility requirements and reduce stretching or bending for all users.
The project required careful investigative work to determine the most appropriate connection points for extending the circuit while maintaining compliance with current electrical regulations. This preliminary assessment was crucial to ensure the additions wouldn’t overload existing circuits and that all modifications would meet the necessary safety standards for commercial properties.
All cabling was neatly contained within white 20mm PVC round conduit. This approach provides both protection for the wiring and a clean, professional aesthetic that blends well with the interior of the commercial space. The conduit installation was meticulously planned to follow the building’s contours, minimising visual impact while maintaining the integrity of the circuit extension.
Throughout the project, we maintained close communication with the client to confirm the final positioning of all outlets. This collaborative approach ensured that the completed work precisely met their operational needs while adhering to all relevant electrical regulations.
