A comprehensive electrical upgrade featuring modern RCBO consumer units, delivering enhanced safety and circuit protection for both standard and Economy 7 circuits.
This residential electrical project in St Austell showcased our commitment to delivering modern, safety-focused electrical solutions. The primary focus centred on implementing a sophisticated dual consumer unit setup, with separate RCBO units managing the standard circuits and Economy 7 circuits respectively, providing comprehensive protection for the entire property.
The installation incorporated an integrated Surge Protection Device, providing crucial protection for the household’s sensitive electronic equipment against potentially damaging power fluctuations and surges from the electrical grid. To ensure optimal performance of the new system, we upgraded the incoming meter tails to 25mm double insulated cabling, meeting current safety standards.
Beyond the consumer unit upgrade, we carried out several improvements to enhance the property’s functionality. In the living room, we extended the ground floor socket circuit to accommodate an additional double socket, specifically designed to serve a WiFi router. The installation involved careful external routing through 20mm black conduit, maintaining the aesthetic integrity of the interior spaces.
The first-floor improvements included adding a double socket in the master bedroom, which required precise channelling work in the masonry wall. This modification strengthened the upstairs electrical infrastructure, providing more convenient power access for the occupants.
A significant enhancement to the property’s ventilation system involved installing a 5-inch loft-mounted extractor fan for the bathroom. This sophisticated setup features a timer overrun facility, ensuring continued ventilation after the bathroom is vacated. The system connects to the lighting circuit and includes a practical pull-cord isolator, while the expelled air routes through insulated aluminium ducting to a soffit grill vent.
Throughout the project, we maintained strict adherence to the 18th Edition wiring regulations, ensuring every modification met current safety standards. The work culminated in comprehensive electrical testing of all circuits, resulting in the issuance of an Electrical Installation Certificate and proper Building Control Notification of Electrical Works.
This project exemplifies our dedication to delivering electrical solutions that harmoniously blend safety, functionality, and compliance with current regulations. The strategic improvements not only modernised the property’s electrical infrastructure but also enhanced its daily usability for the residents.
