Interior Lighting Modernisation in Truro Home

When homeowners seek to modernise their living spaces, lighting plays a crucial role in creating the perfect ambiance whilst improving functionality. Our recent project in Truro showcased how thoughtful spotlight installation and electrical upgrades can revolutionise a home’s atmosphere and practicality.

The project encompassed several key areas of the property, beginning with the living room where we replaced the dated central pendant light with four carefully positioned warm white downlights. This modification dramatically improved the room’s lighting distribution, creating a more balanced and contemporary feel. The existing switch location remained unchanged, maintaining familiarity for the homeowners whilst delivering an entirely new lighting experience.

Moving through to the hallway, we implemented a similar transformation by installing three warm white downlights in place of the original pendant fixture. This adjustment significantly improved the illumination of this transitional space. We incorporated an innovative ‘Kinetic’ wireless switch system on the landing, allowing for convenient lighting control from the first floor. This smart addition complemented the existing switching positions, offering greater flexibility and convenience for the homeowners.

The kitchen and back room areas received particular attention, as these spaces serve multiple purposes throughout the day. We installed sets of four warm white downlights in three distinct zones – the kitchen area, where we positioned the lights strategically above the counter tops, the middle area, and the play area. This zoned approach ensures each space receives appropriate illumination for its specific function while maintaining a cohesive design throughout.

In the garage, we improved accessibility by relocating the existing light switch to a more convenient position adjacent to the doorway, carefully re-routing the trunking for a clean finish. We also added a double socket outlet and a dedicated fused outlet for the garage door, integrating the cabling within the wall void to maintain a neat appearance.

The project also included practical power solutions, such as adding a socket outlet to the media wall in the living room, enhancing connectivity options for entertainment devices. For outdoor functionality, we installed an IP-rated socket at the rear of the property, extending the ground floor socket circuit to accommodate this addition.

Throughout the installation process, we paid careful attention to minimising disruption to the property’s existing finishes. Our approach to routing the necessary cabling for the downlights involved either careful lifting of upstairs carpeting or creating minimal access points in the ground floor ceiling. Any intervention points were meticulously patched and prepared for decoration, ensuring a professional finish.

This comprehensive lighting upgrade demonstrates how modern electrical solutions can significantly improve both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of a home. The combination of well-placed downlights, smart switching options, and additional power points has created a more versatile and user-friendly living environment. The warm white colour temperature chosen for the downlights ensures a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere throughout the property, while the strategic placement of each light fixture maximises the practical benefits for different activities and times of day.
