Our team completed essential LED lighting improvements for a Truro property, replacing interior downlights and installing weatherproof LED lighting in an outbuilding.
We recently completed a targeted lighting upgrade project at a residential property in Truro, addressing both interior comfort lighting and practical outdoor illumination needs.
The homeowner contacted us regarding two specific lighting issues that needed attention. The first involved replacing an existing downlight in the main property with a more efficient solution. The second concerned a faulty light fixture in their outbuilding that required a more robust, weather-resistant replacement.
For the interior work, we removed the existing downlight and installed a new KSR 8w LED downlight with warm white output. This particular fitting was selected for several important reasons. The warm white colour temperature creates a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere that’s perfect for residential spaces, producing a soft, natural light similar to traditional incandescent bulbs but with vastly improved energy efficiency. The 8w power rating strikes an ideal balance between brightness and energy consumption, providing ample illumination while keeping electricity costs down.
The KSR downlight we installed features a sleek, modern design that sits flush with the ceiling, creating a clean, unobtrusive look that complements any interior design style. These high-quality LED units also offer exceptional longevity, with an operational lifespan many times longer than traditional lighting solutions. This means the homeowner won’t need to worry about frequent bulb changes, particularly valuable for ceiling fixtures where access can be inconvenient.
The second part of the project focused on the outbuilding lighting. The existing LED batten light had failed, leaving this important space without proper illumination. Given the variable environmental conditions typical in outbuildings, we recommended and installed a 6-foot vapour-proof LED fitting. This specialist fixture is designed specifically for challenging environments where moisture, dust and temperature fluctuations are common.
The vapour-proof design incorporates robust sealing to prevent the ingress of moisture and particles that could otherwise damage the internal components or reduce performance. With its IP (Ingress Protection) rating, this fitting provides reliable protection against environmental factors that would quickly degrade standard indoor lighting. The 6-foot length ensures excellent coverage across the outbuilding space, eliminating dark spots and providing consistent, bright illumination throughout.
Beyond the immediate benefits of restored lighting, both installations deliver significant long-term advantages for the property owner. The LED technology in both fittings offers dramatic energy savings compared to older lighting technologies, potentially reducing electricity consumption for lighting by up to 80%. This translates directly to lower energy bills and reduced environmental impact.
The longevity of these LED solutions also means far fewer replacements will be needed over time. Traditional lighting might require replacement every few months or years, whereas quality LED fittings can continue performing effectively for many years—some rated for up to 50,000 hours of operation. This reduces both the inconvenience and cost of maintenance, particularly valuable for the outbuilding fitting where access might be more challenging.
Both installations were completed efficiently with minimal disruption to the property. Our electricians ensured all connections were secure and tested both fittings thoroughly before considering the job complete. We also removed all packaging and old materials from the site, leaving the spaces clean and ready for immediate use.
