PIR Sensor Repair for Outdoor Light in Porthleven

Carrying out a focused repair to restore functionality to an existing outdoor security light by replacing its faulty PIR sensor.

Our work in Porthleven focused on a precise repair operation, addressing a malfunctioning PIR sensor on an established outdoor lighting system. The project scope specifically involved replacing the non-functioning sensor while retaining the existing light fixture.

The original installation required careful attention to ensure the new sensor would integrate properly with the current setup. Our diagnostic process confirmed that while the light fixture itself remained serviceable, the PIR sensor had failed, likely due to prolonged exposure to coastal conditions.

Selecting an appropriate replacement meant choosing a white, IP-rated surface-mounted PIR sensor that could withstand the challenging maritime environment. The new component needed to match the operational requirements of the existing system while providing improved resilience against salt air and moisture exposure.

During the repair, we paid particular attention to the weatherproof sealing and mounting of the new sensor, ensuring all connections were properly protected. This attention to detail helps prevent future issues that could arise from water ingress or environmental factors common to coastal locations.

This repair project highlights the importance of maintaining outdoor electrical systems, particularly in maritime environments where components can deteriorate more rapidly. By replacing just the faulty sensor rather than the entire unit, we provided a cost-effective solution that restored the system’s functionality while maintaining its original purpose.

The successful repair means the lighting system now responds reliably to movement, providing the intended security benefits without unnecessary power consumption. This type of focused repair work exemplifies how targeted maintenance can extend the life of existing electrical installations while ensuring they continue to serve their intended purpose effectively.
