We've delivered another forward-thinking EV charging solution in Newquay, installing a sophisticated MyEnergi Zappi charge point with intelligent load monitoring capabilities.
Working to expand Cornwall’s electric vehicle charging network, we’ve completed another successful EV charger installation in Newquay that showcases how home charging can be both efficient and intelligent.
For this installation, we selected the MyEnergi Zappi 7.4kW tethered charge point, a versatile charging solution that offers both reliability and intelligent energy management. The charge point’s location was carefully chosen on the front exterior wall, providing straightforward access for everyday charging while maintaining the property’s clean appearance.
Safety and system protection were paramount in our approach. We installed a dedicated 40A circuit breaker within the existing consumer unit, establishing a robust foundation for the charging system. This installation ensures the proper protection of both the charging equipment and the property’s wider electrical infrastructure.
The intelligent features of this installation make it particularly noteworthy. We incorporated advanced load monitoring devices that constantly evaluate the property’s electrical consumption. This smart technology automatically adjusts the charging rate to prevent system overload, providing peace of mind for the homeowner.
The installation required meticulous attention to detail in cable management. We routed the electrical supply cable through the loft void space, achieving a clean finish that maintains the property’s aesthetics while ensuring easy access for any future maintenance requirements.

This process culminated in producing an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) and submitting the necessary Building Control Notifications, ensuring full compliance with current regulations.
During our time at the property, we also addressed the bathroom ventilation system, replacing the existing extractor with a modern 4-inch in-line unit complete with timer functionality. We thoroughly cleaned the existing ducting and sealed all joints with aluminium tape to ensure optimal performance.
