Our recent project took us to a charming property in St Austell, where we carried out a complete revamp of the electrical system. The centrepiece of our work was the installation of a fire-rated 20-way RCBO consumer unit, complete with an integrated surge protection device. This might sound a bit techy, but in simple terms, it’s like giving the house a robust electrical immune system, defending against power surges and voltage fluctuations that can play havoc with modern electronics.

We didn’t stop there, though. The incoming meter tails were due for an upgrade, so we fitted 25mm double insulated cabling. It’s a bit like widening the motorway into the house – allowing for a smoother, safer flow of electricity.

All our work was done in strict adherence to the current 18th Edition wiring regulations. These aren’t just arbitrary rules – they’re the gold standard for electrical safety and efficiency.

Once we’d finished the installation, we donned our testing hats and put every circuit through its paces. This allowed us to produce the all-important Electrical Installation Certificate and take care of the Building Control Notification of Electrical Works. It might sound like a lot of paperwork, but it’s crucial for ensuring everything’s ship-shape and properly documented.

Looking at the before and after photos, the transformation is striking. We’ve gone from a cluttered, potentially risky setup to a neat, modern system that’s not only safer but also more efficient. It’s always satisfying to see such a marked improvement in a St Austell home’s electrical infrastructure.

The homeowners can now rest easy, knowing their property is not only compliant with the latest regulations but also equipped to handle the demands of modern living. It’s another step towards making St Austell’s homes safer and more energy-efficient, one consumer unit at a time.
