Commercial Electrical Installation – Specialist Power & Lighting for Coffee Roastery

The coffee industry requires precise electrical installations to meet both functional and aesthetic needs. When a new coffee roastery in Threemilestone approached us, they needed a reliable electrical system that would safely power their commercial equipment while creating the right atmosphere for their business.

Working within the industrial unit’s high-ceilinged space presented interesting challenges and opportunities. The client needed dedicated power for their coffee roasting equipment, convenient socket access for counter operations, and a lighting arrangement that would enhance the workspace without compromising on safety or practicality.

The first priority was installing a dedicated electrical circuit for the coffee roaster. This specialised equipment demands consistent, reliable power without risking circuit overloads. We installed three double socket outlets in the rear corner of the premises, all connected to a new dedicated circuit. This setup prevents power fluctuations that could affect roasting results or damage sensitive equipment. For durability in this working environment, we routed all cabling through 20mm galvanised conduit, providing excellent mechanical protection against potential damage.

For the front counter area, we installed three additional metal-clad double socket outlets. This provides ample power access for point-of-sale equipment, coffee grinders, and other counter appliances. The cabling for these outlets runs neatly through 20mm PVC conduit within the electrical cupboard, maintaining a clean appearance while allowing for easy future access if modifications are needed.

We also installed a supplementary double socket outlet within the rear cupboard space, connected to the coffee roaster circuit. This thoughtful addition gives the business flexibility for storage area power needs while maintaining circuit organisation.

Perhaps the most transformative aspect of the project was replacing the standard LED batten lighting with custom pendant fittings. The high ceiling of the industrial unit offered the perfect opportunity to install feature lighting that would complement the character of the space. We manufactured and installed extra-long pendant fittings, supported by 3mm chain for security and stability. The pendants were spaced strategically throughout the roastery to provide even illumination while adding visual interest. The client supplied decorative E27 lamps that perfectly matched their aesthetic vision.

Given the 6-metre ceiling height, all high-level work required appropriate access equipment. We factored a scissor lift into the project planning to ensure all work could be completed safely and efficiently, with no compromise on installation quality despite the challenging working height.
